Succour Lake is a lake located just 4.9 miles from Canim Lake. The road is unmarked yet easy to find with local’s directions. For that matter one can Google any of these lakes to get directions. It is a rough road but there is room at the lake site to camp maybe 2 small RVs and some tents. We use a 4-wheel drive truck so no worries in or out.
There are a variety of fish including rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and bull trout here. It is a lovely small and tranquil lake to troll with an electric motor and small enough to kayak comfortably. We have seldom seen more than 2 other fishing parties at a time there so it is just a delightful and peaceful commune with nature.
Just up the road from Succour Lake, about 2 km, we found Boomerang Lake. Similarly we found a variety of fish including rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and bull trout here. It is smaller and weedier and it is infinitely more fun to kayak this lake than to fish it. I say this because I love to go places where other boats cannot.
There are also an amazing number of no-name lakes here and there throughout this particular section. We took a tour on a small trail, our truck just fit with branches brushing the sides, to find a beautiful tiny gem that one of the locals referred to simply as Fish Lake. The morning mist and the silence barely broken by our electric motor made for a wonderful ethereal experience. No fish, but it really did not matter.
