“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.”
We loaded the boat and all the necessary paraphernalia into the back of the truck last night in keen anticipation of today’s fishing excursion. The day did not fail us…there was not a cloud in the sky! There was, however, our first frost of the fall season to greet us at 7:00 am. It was not a big deal, just a skiff of the fuzzy stuff to scrape from the windshield. By 8:00 am when we got out onto the lake the bright sunshine was there to welcome us, warming our shoulders in the chill morning air.
What a glorious feeling to troll along the lake, a thermos of coffee at our side, egg salad sandwich for breakfast in one hand and baited fishing rod in the other. There were many ducks and loons dipping about into the lake and there were bald eagles soaring above. It was barely a matter of 5 minutes before the first fish of the day was on board; we were off to a great start.
We set a time limit of 3 hours to fish and came home with 5 fish in total. There were many that got away and many that snagged a good fresh worm t0 eat without getting caught. I hope we can find the opportunity to fish again this fall but for now we may consider this to be the final tour for 2012. The next lake trip may well be for ice fishing.
Today’s “stone” is Day 259 fishing, finding peace, mellowed completely
